Welcome home Dr. Bliss and Bliss Family Veterinarian to Lutz, Florida. Dr. Bliss grew up in Odessa, FL, and earned his bachelor’s degree in Biomedical science from USF in Tampa. Dr. Bliss spent 6 years in Gainesville, FL working on his DVM and Master of Public Health Degrees from the University of Florida.

Dr. Bliss was initially drawn to veterinary medicine as a boy with family ties to the Texas beef cattle industry. He focused on studying agriculture and animal husbandry and was an accomplished swine showman across the Florida county and state fairs. His interests shifted to small animal veterinary medicine as he began working in clinics and saw the beauty of the human-animal bond. Including the time he spent working his way up the veterinary staff ladder, Dr. Bliss has been working with pets for over 15 years.

“I work primarily with dogs and cats, but love any furry critter. I will treat mice, rabbits, ferrets, or any other small mammal with the same care and attention. With extra experience and training at Gainesville’s only feline-specific practice, I feel I am particularly in tune with feline patients’ needs.”

Veterinary medicine, with its many disciplines, is varied as a profession. Dr. Bliss enjoys all aspects of the field but takes a particular interest in ultrasonography, surgery, and dentistry. However, his favorite part about practicing veterinary medicine is helping people to heal their best friends. In order to keep your family as healthy and happy as possible, he has a special interest in ophthalmology, reproductive health, and feline medicine.

Dr. Bliss is quite active in the veterinary community. He regularly attends continued education events at his local veterinary medical association meetings. Dr. Bliss is on the board of the Pinellas County Veterinary Medical Association and a board member of the Pinellas Animal Foundation. He is currently enrolled in the Florida Veterinary Medical Association Power of 10, an exclusive training program for young veterinary leaders, after being selected among only 10 other veterinarians from the whole state of Florida.

Dr. Bliss and his family settled back home after spending several years in the Melbourne area. Dr. Bliss is your neighbor, now living in Lutz Florida with his three rambunctious sons: Mason, Donovan, and Lucas. There is also their three-legged Yorkie, Mrs. Maisel, and 2 cats, Johnny and June that share Todd’s attention.  His house is certainly busy and full. In his spare time, he enjoys sailing, reading, and working with his hands; whether on his family’s cars, gardening, or carpentry projects.
